No matter the temptation
No matter the urge
No matter the immediate gratification
No matter how good it tastes or feels
The grass is not always greener on the other side
The stars will not always shine brighter miles away
The rainbow will not stand still to be a bridge to roam under
Nor will there be a pot of gold just waiting for your claim alone
Be true to yourself above all
It may be the more difficult path
It may be the harder mountain to climb
It may be the road less traveled
And in turn you may have your doubts lying heavy upon you
But, if you are true to yourself
You can raise your head up high
You can move forward freely with each stride
You can look at yourself solely in the mirror with pride
You can respect yourself and in turn be respected
